Shift Pattern: Worked on Rota Basis, Including weekdays, Evenings, Weekends and Public Holidays.
Salary: £8.47 per hour

It is an exciting time to join YMCA St Paul’s group. The YMCA London South West, East London and Slough have recently merged their businesses and a further merger with West London YMCA is planned to complete in April 2018. This new organisation will have a growing presence across London and Slough.
We support vulnerable and homeless young people by providing hostel accommodation, pastoral care and community activities, as well as supported living and affordable move-on housing. We have recently been in the news after the successful innovative development of the Y Cube, a low cost modular home solution. We aim to provide a safe and secure environment where people are respected, heard and valued.
But that’s not all we do. We support children, providing daily activities such as soft play, breakfast clubs, afterschool clubs and holiday play schemes. Our health and wellbeing centres offer people the opportunity to nurture their mind, body and spirit with gyms, group fitness classes and counselling, and we train local volunteers to work with our dedicated staff, as we fully believe in the positive benefits of community participation.

During these exciting times we are looking for a Catering Assistant to assist in all aspects of the running of the Café and functions at YMCA White House. You will be part of a larger Catering Department which falls under the YMCA Health and Wellbeing brand and is quite unique delivering a number of catering services; which includes daily meals for the residents that live in its hostels, cafés open to the public, as well as catering for functions; meetings and conferences held at its other YMCA sites. We also cater for three free schools.
You will provide excellent customer service, preparing and cooking simple but wholesome food and serving drinks to a high standard; maximise income and customer satisfaction within the Café; keep all catering areas clean and well stocked, whilst working on your own or with others.
It is essential to hold a current food hygiene certificate, or obtain one within one month of starting; possess good verbal communication skills; to have experience of food preparation and presentation; to have the ability to calculate cash transactions and handle cash quickly and accurately. It would be an advantage to have worked in sales or customer service, or to have experience of Café procedures such as cashing up, till operation, and awareness of special diets. This role is subject to safeguarding checks including a DBS check in line with YMCA St Paul’s Group procedures.
