Christmas is finally here and we hope each and every one of you will get a fabulous Holiday!
Over the last few weeks, we have already celebrated the festive season with various festive events and activities across all our centres in Kingston, Surbiton and Wimbledon.
Association Members, Partners, Staff, Board members, Trustees and some of the many people we work with in South West London came along to the event, which was filled with dance, drama, music, multimedia presentation and speeches. It was a great event, showcasing the vital role YMCA LSW has played in local community in the past and present.
Christmas in the soft plays
Every Wednesday in December, a Christmas Card-making workshop has been available to children visiting the Pod2 soft play at YMCA Wimbledon, resulting in numerous colourful, glittering and fantastic handmade Christmas cards!
Santa Claus has also been visiting in his Grotto, giving out presents to the Children visiting our soft play Children’s parties in the Pod and Pod2. When he came to Wimbledon, he even brought his two reindeers!
This December, the YMCA LSW elves also offered their wrapping services in free gift wrapping sessions at YMCA Hawker and YMCA Wimbledon.
Candlelit Walk & Santa Run
This year, YMCA LSW also partnered with the Rotary Club of Kingston to deliver two festive family events in Kingston in the run up to Christmas.
On 10th December, an atmospheric Candlelit Walk took place in Kingston town centre. Santa Claus made his appearance, and so a group of Morris Dancers! There was even some snow…
Carol services and Senior lunch out of the ordinary
For many, it’s not Christmas until they have been attending at least one Carol service. Luckily, YMCA LSW organised four this year!
At YMCA Hawker, students from the Children’s ballet classes even performed some routines, and on the Thursday morning service, the Carols were accompanied by live music.
At the annual Senior Christmas lunch, some carols were performed by very talented singers and dancers from Hillsong Church in London, to the amusement of the guests.
Christmas Day in the hostels
Most of our centres and services will be closed for Christmas Day and Boxing Day. However, for the residents staying in our hostels, delicious Christmas food will be served and the next few days will bring peace and quiet. Thanks to kind donations from amongst other Tiger in Kingston, presents will be handed out and the staff and volunteers working through the Holiday will make sure everybody is well and has someone to talk to.
Now all there is left to do is to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year – we hope to see in one of our centres in 2015!
