Social Activities

Get out and about with YMCA London South West.  We run regular trips out, walks, lunches and meet-ups for the whole community.

Take a look at the programme of activities that we run in Surbiton, KingstonWimbledon and Hampton.

YMCA Walks

Get active and meet new people with our programme of regular walks trips out of YMCA Surbiton, YMCA White House, YMCA Hawker and YMCA Wimbledon.

Our walks are led by passionate and committed volunteers who take great care in researching interesting walks in and around London. We’ll stop to have a drink or eat some lunch together along the way, and get to know each other a little more.

All walks are FREE, but we ask you to cover your own expenses such as transport and refreshments. The walks always start promptly at 10am and return mid-afternoon. No need to book, simply turn up in the reception of your local YMCA centre.

Out and about

We go on monthly outings to different places of interest, including historical towns, National Trust sites and museums.

Trips depart from YMCA Surbiton and YMCA White House at 9.30am and YMCA Hawker at 9.00am and will arrive back at approximately 5pm.  Trips are limited to 14 spaces so book in advance to avoid disappointment. To book, call in at your local YMCA centre or call 020 8390 0148.

Thursday 20 April: Tonbridge Castle
The castle is a twin-towered gatehouse which took around 30 years to build and was completed in 1260. Set in the beautiful Tonbridge and Malling Borough of Kent, the castle has great views – and as you wander around you can see and hear about a vibrant history from over 700 years ago. It’s only a short walk from Tonbridge High Street which runs through the centre of this pretty market town, if you wanted to take the opportunity to explore further.

Thursday 18 May: Loseley House and gardens
This beautiful house has been in the More-Molyneux family for over 500 years. Sir Christopher More, the original purchaser of the land was Sheriff of Surrey and Sussex during the reign of Henry VII and is said to have been a man of considerable influence and power. His son, Sir William Moore, who is a direct ancestor of the current owners, was the one who eventually drove the main building of the house. As you wander the house and the grounds you will be intrigued not only by the architecture but also by the compelling family history.

Thursday 22 June: Brighton
Join us on our annual day trip to Brighton to enjoy the wonderful coast. Whether you’d like to stick with us or explore on your own, this quintessential English beach town has much to offer. With boutique shops along The Lanes and iconic attractions there’s a lot to explore. You could enjoy some traditional fish and chips, and take a walk along the pier or experience the new British Airways i360 Centre. This is always a popular trip so make sure that you book in advance to avoid disappointment.
