A very respectable result!
A cowboy, an Indian, a builder, a sailor and a policeman were in a boat. It sounds like the start of a bad joke
but it could be seen going up and down the River Thames on Sunday at the annual Kingston Rotary Dragon Boat race. Staff from
YMCA London South West, racing under the name of Row Boat Cops , dressed as the village people to compete, raising over £500
in sponsorship for their holiday playscheme at the Mount Primary School in Kingston.
The camp is run for 4 to 11 year olds during the Easter and summer holidays, where many of the children attending suffer with
ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder or Asperger Syndrome) and ADHD (Attention-Deficit Hyper-activity Disorder). It offers the
children a range of activities, including crafts, outdoor play and creative cooking sessions. There are also weekly trips to
local attractions, parks and the cinema.
The YMCA team, with no previous rowing experience, finished in a respectable 34th position (out of 45), with a quickest lap
time of 1 minute, 5 secs. A big 'Thank You' to everyone who sponsored them!

The Row Boat Cops on dry land...
