Fundraising

As a charity, we rely on funding from a number of sources. Government funding enables us to offer supported housing to homeless people in the local community and all surpluses from our services like Canteen and Y+Fitness are plowed back into our charitable work.

However, a big part of what we do is down to the community and their efforts in raising money for us. There are so many ways in which local people have supported our work; sleeping outside on a cold wintery night, sponsoring a dragon boat racer who is dressed up as a cowboy, buying a beauty treatment at one of our Pamper Lunches or a second-hand pram at a baby sale. Even running the London Marathon.

If you’d like to get involved and fundraise for us, there are a number of ways:

EventsWe run many fundraising events throughout the year, ranging from big, all night Sleep Outs to one hour themed lunches. Every single person who takes part contributes towards one of our community projects. Sometimes we’ll ask you to try to hit a sponsorship target and sometimes it’s as simple as turning up for for a coffee.

Sponsoring Someone Who’s Taking PartIf you’re unable to take part in an event, why not sponsor someone who is? If you take a look at our ‘Champions’ page you can see everyone who’s raising money for us at the moment.

Sponsoring An EventAt most events we look for sponsors to help cover the admin costs. That way, all the money raised by those taking part goes towards our charitable work. If you’d like to talk to someone about what sponsoring an event involves and the benefits to you, email sarahward@ymcaslw.org
