We believe every person should have someone they can trust and someone to talk to.

Again and again we hear people telling us that simply because someone sat down and listened and showed an interest in them, they managed to turn their lives around. Be it support workers in our hostels or youth workers at our youth centres – we are there for people who need someone to listen, give advice and show that they have some faith in individuals making the right choices.

Youth support

For young people, our youth centres in Merton, Kingston and Surbiton are spaces where young people can go when need someone to talk to or simply want somewhere they can be themselves and hang out with friends. Also, we have an outreach support worker, who is there to help young people with issues and problems they might have.

Resident’s support

For residents living in our hostels in Surbiton and Wimbledon, support workers are always at hand for a friendly chat, advice about training and programmes and projects that can help build confidence and communication skills, teamwork skills and create bonds of friendship.

Community projects

YMCA London South West also work closely with other organisations in the local community, delivering a range of services ranging from:

– Sexual health advice for under 19s

– Support group for victims of forced marriage, domestic violence and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

– Community café for relatives of dementia patients
