We’re the largest provider of supported housing for the homeless in South West London. Last year we helped and housed over 300 people many as young as 16 years old. Our hostels are not just accommodation; we also provide support and help for everyone who stays with us. Some just need a breathing space – a safe place where they can think things through for a few weeks, perhaps rebuild relationships with family before moving on with their lives. Others need more intense help. Help with deep emotional issues, with addiction, with a lack of work skills, education, social skills and self-confidence. Whatever is needed, the YMCA treats each person as an individual, holistically, mindful of body, mind and spirit.
More than bed and boardOur core housing work is funded by the Government’s Supporting People programme. The extra services we offer such as life skills classes, Foundation Learning, apprenticeships, volunteer schemes and social activities are funded from the surpluses (profits) of our social enterprises; our gyms, childcare services and cafes.
At YMCA Surbiton, YMCA Wimbledon and YMCA Parsons Green we also offer student and budget accommodation, with basic bed and breakfast rooms available at affordable rates.
