Terms and conditions for housing places at YMCA Wimbledon have been agreed by Merton Borough Council, No Second Night Out and YMCA Wimbledon. If the referral agencies think that the YMCA may be suitable for a client they will email over the referral containing their information for YMCAs Housing Team to assess to see if they have any support needs and if the YMCA is a suitable accommodation for them.
Criteria for acceptance
– be known to their local authority that they are homeless
– be referred by Merton or the NSNO Street Homeless Hub
– be receiving an income state benefit or a full time or part time wage
– have two forms of valid ID
Length of stay:
Minimum: 1 month
Maximum: 2 years
Average: 18 months
Staffing and support
17 staff, 24 hour cover, night porter, emergency on-call system. Keywork system with weekly meetings. Personal development plan identifies resident’s specific needs, reviewed quarterly. Outcomes Star action plan completed within 1st month. Residents must participate in a life skills programme and their personal development plan. Social activities programme. Monthly residents’ meetings.
Referral to Wimbledon Guild for counselling.
Access to move-on
Move-on support and advice is offered as part of keyworking. Move-on is via local nomination panel (for residents with support needs only).
Rooms are fully furnished, with washbasins.
Other facilities: Lounge, Computers, Chapel, Fitness studio.
Food: Breakfast and evening meal on weekdays, breakfast and lunch at weekends.
Disabled facilities: Two wheelchair accessible rooms. Hostel is wheelchair accessible throughout. Lift.
Rules and policies
No alcohol allowed on the premises. Smoking allowed in own room and outside. Must attend monthly residents’ meetings. Licence agreement.
24 hour access, no restrictions.
Until 11pm. Can stay overnight (including parents’ children) with manager’s permission.
Monthly residents’ meetings facilitated by staff. Consultation forum to give feedback and plan social activities. Residents’ floor representatives. Leaving forms include a service evaluation.
