MAINTENANCE Coordinator 

Responsible to:            Maintenance Coordinator
Work Location:             Based at YMCA Wimbledon, although you may be asked to work at any YMCA London South West site.
Hours of Work:             40 hours per week, primarily Monday to Friday with occasional weekend hours required; in agreement with line manager. This Position either can be shared (2×20 hours) or (1×40 hours).
Salary:                           £18,241.60 per annum

Organisation Context

It is an exciting time to join YMCA St Paul’s group. The YMCA London South West, East London and Slough have recently merged their businesses and a further merger with West London YMCA is planned to complete in April 2018. This new organisation will have a growing presence across London and Slough.


We support vulnerable and homeless young people by providing hostel accommodation, pastoral care and community activities, as well as supported living and affordable move-on housing. We have recently been in the news after the successful innovative development of the Y Cube, a low cost modular home solution. We aim to provide a safe and secure environment where people are respected, heard and valued. But that’s not all we do. We support children, providing daily activities such as soft play, breakfast clubs, afterschool clubs and holiday play schemes. Our health and wellbeing centres offer people the opportunity to nurture their mind, body and spirit with gyms, group fitness classes and counselling, and we train local volunteers to work with our dedicated staff, as we fully believe in the positive benefits of community participation.

We are seeking to recruit a Maintenance Co-ordinator to lead on the  general maintenance and repair duties, ensuring the smooth running and maintaining high standards at Hampton Pool, whilst providing a safe and welcoming environment for our service users.  You will be required to undertake water testing and help maintain high levels of water quality (training for recognised pool plant quaification will be proviced); manage staff, volunteers, work experience workers and oversee larger works co-ordinating the staff needed to achieve this; experience of painting and decorating, have extensive experience of premises maintenance and able to undertake or assist with heavy duty or high level cleaning tasks. You will also have an understanding of major supplies to the property (water, gas & electricity), drainage and sewage in order to deal with problems as they arise and be site champion of carbon reduction.

It is essential to hold an ISRM pool plant room qualification (or for this to be active within 3 months of starting employment), and to have a knowledge of Health and Safety issues for various types of premises.  A relevant trade qualification and to have been trained in electrical safety would be desirable.

Scope and Limits of Authority

Duties prescribed by Line Manager, although post holder is expected to use discretion in prioritising day to day tasks.
