Residential Care
Working with Surrey County Council’s Adults and Community Care Services, we provide residential care for people with learning or physical disabilities.
Langdown House and Rodney House, in West Molesey and Walton-on-Thames, have 44 long term places and four short term places for people with learning disabilities. These short term places are used to provide either respite for family carers or opportunities for personal development with accommodation when they are temporarily unable to live at home.
The Summers in West Molesey provides care for people with physical disabilities, however, it will be closing in early 2012.
Encouraging Participation
We aim to promote personal choice and independence to all people who stay with us, regardless of the extent of their disability. They are encouraged, and facilitated, to join in a number of activities which have recently included sessions such as clay making, I.T. skills and healthy cooking; all run by
volunteers
from YMCA LSW hostels.
Residents across the three Care Homes have also taken part in YMCA events such as the Dragon Boat Race and the Royal Wedding Lunch Club and are given free gym membership, which includes access to classes such as Line Dancing.
Our Care Homes are registered with the
Care Quality Commission
. Our latest reports and assessments can be found online at the Care Quality Commission
website
or obtained from our
Head of Care Services
on request.
