As a local charity with a particular focus on young people, we are always looking for ways to involve schools with our work.
If you are a teacher and you would like your pupils to know more about the issue of homelessness, we can arrange for a member of staff give a short talk and answer questions.
If you have an idea for a fundraising event or you want your class to take part in one of our existing events, please do get in touch.
Sleep Easy 2012
In January, several youth groups joined in with Sleep Easy, an event linked with Homelessness Sunday that involved building a cardboard shelter and sleeping in it all night, outside. Over 12's (with adult supervision) were sponsored to take part with games and activities before settling down in their sleeping bags for a cold and not too comfortable night.
It is always a fun event and there is a warm place to retreat to if it gets too cold. However, all participants come away with the understanding that sleeping rough is miserable and not something anyone would choose to do.
If you would like your school to be part of Sleep Easy 2013, please contact Sarah. You can join in with one of our events in Kingston and Wimbledon or we can help you organise your own.
