Join us at YMCA Hawker for a range of excursions, walks, meet-ups and more.
Our fortnightly walks are FREE* and start from YMCA Hawker, leaving promptly at 10am and returning mid-afternoon.
Woodberry Wetlands and Stoke Newington – Monday July 10
We travel by train and underground to Finsbury Park and then through the recently opened Wetlands Centre and on to Stoke Newington where we lunch before catching the bus back to Waterloo. [About 4 miles, flat and mostly paved.]
Mitcham Common – Monday July 24
We take the train to Wimbledon, and then the tram to discover the natural history of this local resource. We lunch in Mitcham before our return home. [About 4 miles, some inclines and may be muddy.]
Six ponds and a river – Monday August 14
This woodland walk round Esher Common takes us past all six ponds and part of the river Mole. We take the bus to Esher, walk around the common and return to the town for lunch. [About 4 miles, some steepish inclines and may be muddy]
Leatherhead Common – Monday September 11
The bus takes us to Leatherhead golf course, and we take a circular route under and over the motorway to return to The Star for lunch and the bus home. [About 3.5 miles, flattish but may be muddy.]
*Although free, we ask you to pay your own expenses including transport and refreshments. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are in good enough health to participate in these walks.
Senior Social Membership
We offer a Senior Social Membership is for those aged 60+. It costs £25 a year and as well as the fitness class discount, includes a 15% discount on senior trips and activities and on food and drink in the cafe at YMCA Hawker (excluding pre-packaged items).
An Active Kingston Card is available to anyone aged over 60 and living in the Kingston Borough. It entitles you to discounted use of leisure centres in the borough during certain hours. YMCA Hawker is an issuing centre.
