Out and about with YMCA Surbiton

Excursions, walks, meet ups and more…

WALKS

Our walks are FREE and start from YMCA Surbiton, leaving promptly at 10am and returning mid-afternoon. 

Wednesday  5 July   
Mitcham Common                                                                                                          

We take the tram from Wimbledon to discover the natural history of this local resource, lunching in Mitcham before our return home.        
[About 4 miles, some inclines and may be muddy]

Wednesday 19 July  
Six ponds and a river                                                                                                     

This woodland walk round Esher Common takes us past all six ponds and part of the river Mole.  We take the bus to Esher, walk around the common and return to the town for lunch.
[About 4 miles, some steepish inclines and may be muddy]

Wednesday 2 August  
Ham Common to Teddington                                                                                    

From the New Inn we walk over the common to the Thames and across the lock to Teddington, where we lunch.  
[About 4 miles, flat but with the possibility of mud]

Wednesday 16 August  
The Mole Gap                                                                                                                   

We take the bus to Box Hill and then follow the course of the river Mole to Leatherhead where we lunch before returning home.
[About 4 miles, some inclines and may be muddy]

Wednesday 6 September
Beverley Brook                                                                                                                 

From Robin Hood gate,  we follow the brook through Richmond Park, then across Palewell Common and Barnes Common until it reaches the Thames at Putney.  Here we lunch before hopping on a bus back to Kingston.
[About 4.5 miles, flat, some paved and some uneven woodland paths, possibly muddy in places]

Wednesday 20 September    
Bridges of London                                                                                                           

By special request we repeat this popular walk, from Waterloo to the Tower, crossing and re-crossing the Thames.   After lunch, we return by bus to Waterloo.
[About 4 miles, flat and paved.]

LUNCH CLUB

On the last Friday of every month we get together to enjoy a traditional two-course meal, entertainment, a raffle and some fun and friendship.  All for just £8 a head.

Meet-ups

Every Monday join us for coffee and games between 10am–12 noon at Surbiton Café with Nicky or at our ‘Teapot’ event every Wednesday with Joyce between 2.30pm–4pm.  Enjoy each other’s company and catch up on the week’s events. 

Community choir

Love to sing and meet new people? The choir meets every Wednesday, 7–8.30pm. There is no audition and it’s free for concessions and just £3.50 for those who earn. Just turn up and enjoy!

 Senior Social Membership

The Senior Social Membership costs £25 a year and as well as the fitness class discount, includes a 15% discount on senior trips and activities and on food and drink in the cafe at YMCA Hawker (excluding pre-packaged items).

An Active Kingston Card is available to anyone aged over 60 and living in the Kingston Borough. It entitles you to discounted use of leisure Centres in the Borough during certain hours. YMCA Hawker is an issuing Centre.
