Trips, walks, meet-ups and more.
Our fortnightly walks start from YMCA Wimbledon at 10am, returning mid-afternoon. They are free of charge and you will need to pay for your own expenses, such as transport and refreshments.
Tuesday 21 February: Ealing Prince of the Suburbs – A Victorian Masterpiece
Walk Ealing and see its public buildings, parks and pubs – discover its music heritage, architecture and film industry featuring George Formby, Gracie Fields, St Trinians, Carry on Films and the Royle Family. End the walk at Stage 6 or a local Coaching Inn. [Approx 3.5 miles.]
Tuesday 7 March: Regency – Regents Park to Camden Lock
Walk through the green lung of London that Regents Park and appreciate its surrounding Palladian architecture. Trace the route of the Regents Park canal to Camden Market with its lively market and bohemian atmosphere. [Approx 4 miles.]
Tuesday 21 March: Wimbledon Wombles and Windmills – International Tennis Capital
How Wimbledon grew from a village to attract leading politicians of its day. What were the debates over the preservation of the common? What were the roots of lawn tennis and who was its first champion? Who were the members of the Wombles? And more… [Approx 4 miles.]
Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are in good enough health to participate.
Every month we get together to enjoy a traditional two-course meal, entertainment, a raffle and some fun and friendship. All for just £8 a head.
