Supported Housing

At YMCA LSW, we provide accommodation for single homeless people in our hostels in Wimbledon and Surbiton. We recognise the individual and understand the varied needs of our residents. We offer a warm and non-judgmental environment and our staff are committed to helping where it's needed. We are funded by the Supporting People programme and work closely with a wide range of external agencies and organisations to ensure that we provide the best service possible.

Every supported resident is assigned a Support Worker and together, they will develop a support plan that will eventually lead to independent living. As part of our holistic approach we also offer counselling, life skills classes, social activities and opportunities to explore spirituality and faith. These services are funded by surpluses from our social enterprises (Y+ Fitness and Canteen) and monies raised by fundraising via events and donations.

The Buddy Scheme

In addition to YMCA LSW staff support, we have recently introduced the Buddy Scheme where volunteers, many of them residents themselves, lend a helping hand and a listening ear to past, as well as current residents. This service is often vital to ensure a successful outcome when residents move-on from the hostel environment.

Information about what to do if you are homeless or are facing homelessness can be found here.
