8 April 2015

In 2014 Y Care International launched an exciting new overseas volunteering opportunity for all 18 to 25 year olds, through the International Citizen Service (ICS).

Backed by the government, our ICS programme offers young people the chance to make a difference in some of the world’s poorest communities, in Africa, Asia and Central America. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go overseas, experience another culture and gain new skills essential for the world of work.

Work alongside local young people

Volunteers spend up to 12 weeks working alongside volunteers from the local community on development projects to improve the lives of vulnerable young people. All our volunteers will work on existing projects run by local YMCAs, so they can be confident they are making a real difference and will have a long term impact on the community.

Our projects work with young people to help them stay healthy and safe, get skills for work, prepare for emergencies or to improve the youth justice system.

A fairer world

When volunteers return back to the UK, we will support them to raise awareness of global poverty in their local community and inspire others to join in our fight for a fairer and just world.

All 18-25 years olds are welcome to apply. Anyone aged 23 or over can apply to become one of our Team Leaders.
