On 24th November 2014 YMCA London South West received their ‘Commitment’ Award as part of the London Mayor’s Healthy Workplace Charter.
This December, a new fitness class is launching at YMCA Hawker called Bodyvive. Developed by LesMills, Bodyvive is a mix of strength, cardio and core training. With exercises such as lunges, squats, running and tubing exercises, all accompanied by great music, the class leaves you feeling satisfied, motivated and energetic.
Ann Hart has worked at YMCA Wimbledon for over 30 years. The smiling Health & Fitness Manager is a real people person who loves to see gym members of all ages and all stages of fitness get active and healthy with the help of YMCA LSW.
Kingsley Shaw moved in to the brand new YMCA building in Wimbledon in 1974. From being a resident he went on to become Chairman of the Board, working with the YMCA through a period of expansion and growth, but also financial difficulties.
This December, there will be plenty of fun for children in YMCA London South West’s soft play facilities in Wimbledon and Kingston.
Next year, Kingston based historian Audrey Giles will publish her book ‘It Started With Coffee in the Vestry’ about the early years of the YMCA in Surbiton and Kingston. Read more here.
This year, YMCA London South West is celebrating that it is 140 years since the Association was established in Kingston upon Thames. However, a few years ago, local historian Audrey Giles discovered that the YMCA formed in Kingston in 1874 was not the first, but rather the third to be established in the area.
