“I would definitely do it again”
Lee Perry, 39, a fire fighter from Addlestone in Surrey, was one of four runners taking on the 26.2 mile course for YMCA London South West last year. It was Lee’s first marathon and he completed the run in 4 hours and 22 minutes. After the race, he said:
“I will definitely do it again! I enjoyed the whole day so much, it was an amazing experience and overall an amazing day. The crowds were immense and really helped carry you along, constantly calling out your name and offering support. It was a fantastic feeling!
“During the race I saw my wife and kids who were on the route to support me. This helped to spur me on! At the end of the race, I met up with my family and friends at Westminster Hall with the rest of the YMCA team for a celebration, which was a great end to the day.
“The final stretch when you could see the finish line and realised that all the hard work and dedication had been worthwhile was also quite euphoric. I was able to raise £1,720 and I know that this money will be invaluable to the YMCA in helping others that are in need.”
