YMCA London South West and YMCA East London have merged. This new organisation which is called YMCA London South West has resulted in a growing presence across South, South West and East London. During these exciting times for the association, we are seeking a Support Worker at YMCA Surbiton. You will work with residents with a variety of support needs, sign-posting them to agencies and supporting and encouraging them to acquire the skills to move into more independent living. You will be responsible for ensuring supported residents receive an exceptionally good customer service experience from start to end of the “Resident Pathway” framework; be responsible for new referrals, move-ins and inductions; provide support and opportunities to develop residents’ confidence and independent living skills to help improve their future lives; use monitoring systems to review residents’ progress.
The ideal candidate will have an understanding of problems facing homeless people and homelessness issues; an understanding of confidentiality in a support setting; experience of working face to face with homeless people; and experience of recording, monitoring and report writing. It is essential for candidates to be able to identify and signpost residents to services which will address their needs, and to have the ability to work in a team, effectively supporting and understanding each other’s roles. Experience of providing support to people with a variety of needs, and the ability to speak a second language would be beneficial for applicants.
